Summer Reading 2020

Dear North Bethesda Middle School Student,

We urge you to read as often as possible over the summer break. You must read at least one book, but we suggest you read more than two books. You may choose to read fiction or biography. Whatever you select must have a narrative format. In other words, the book must have individuals (characters) that are engaged in action (plot). You may select a biography or an autobiography since these genres have an individual and are written in a narrative format—one that tells a story.  Topic-focused books are wonderful to read, but are not a part of the summer reading requirement which is literature based.

You are not required to read any specific title. If you want to explore a wide range of book suggestions, please visit the North Bethesda Middle School website and select the media center tab at the top of the page for more information about summer reading.

When you return after summer break, you may expect an assignment from your English teacher that is directly related to your reading.

If you have any questions, please contact the English content specialist at

Have a wonderful summer! Read as often as you can!
